Hedaux Motor Company, an independent family-run garage in Lincolnshire, has set its sights on expansion following a year which saw it capitalise on the power of combining a specialist website with leading software technology.

The garage, which is a Castrol Service Centre, says as well as taking on a new unit, it will become a JLR specialist and increase its offering to include EV servicing, and vehicle and parts sales.

None of this would be possible, says owner Dan Hedaux, without the business being underpinned by a strong online presence which works hand-in-hand with his garage management system (GMS).

He said: “We use Garage Hive’s GMS and there’s always a lot of talk within that community about how effective the websites are from Garage Services Online (GSO). I’d also heard about them whilst on Andy Savva and James Dillon training courses, so the decision to partner with GSO for our website was a no-brainer really.

“Even though the website is still relatively new, it’s increased our enquiries tenfold. And crucially, they’re quality leads too.

“The true power of a specialist garage website, when created by people who know the industry inside out, is that you can target the work you specifically want to attract. Now we’ve seen this in action, it’s given me the confidence to expand and look at creating new revenue streams. I know the website will act like a magnet to draw that work in.

“Being found online is especially important to us. We’re a remote garage in the back of beyond. We don’t see much passing trade, but that doesn’t matter these days because ‘out of sight, out of mind’ only really applies online.”

The garage now attracts customers willing to travel over 30 miles to use Hedaux Motor Company, including those with problematic diagnostic jobs.

Hedaux continued: “The website brings the right jobs in and then our GMS takes over. With the data Garage Hive gives us, we monitor the profitability of each job. Armed with this knowledge, we ask GSO to fine tune the website to draw in more of the most profitable jobs.

“In 2025 we’re going to take this insight a step further. I’m currently working on a diagnostic questionnaire which we’ll attach to the booking system. It’ll effectively ‘triage’ the vehicle before it comes through the door, saving both time and money. We’ll know more about where the vehicle has been, how its driven and its history.

“Knowledge is power. Applying this philosophy throughout the business is game-changing and it’s where you harness the true potential of a website and GMS.

“GSO plays a key role in this strategy. The team was first class during the website build and continue to be brilliant 12 months later. I’m more than happy to have them onboard.”
